The story of how Scout, my beautiful Porti-Doodle came into my life prompting me to start my dog wear company back in December, 2016

It was back in early 2016 that Scout, the namesake of my dog wear company, came into my world. And her arrival changed my life! When Scout arrived, I had just left a successful corporate career as the co-owner of an eLearning company for over 12 years. I was in corporate burnout; I craved more creativity in my life! Creativity was always encouraged while I was growing up. My childhood was filled with drawing, knitting, sewing, and crafting. This need for creativity drew me back into a life where I can work with my hands again, and I couldn't be happier!

Scouter Wear is one of those classic business success stories you often hear; I started making dog coats for Scout, then neighbours started asking for them, and then a business was launched, all during the fall of 2016. Now, several years later, Scouter Wear has added a new category which is making patterns and teaching people how to make their own dog clothes. And I absolutely LOVE what I do! I bring this joy and creativity into every Scouter Wear product I design.

I am constantly inspired by the dogs I see; All the varied sizes and breeds, particularly those with "hard to fit" shapes. Dog's needs, comfort, and safety are the top priority in everything I design. From the Alpine Jacket: a waterproof dog coat with fleece lining, designed to cover the belly to keep the dog warm and dry. To the Cool Dog: a cooling jacket designed to help keep dogs comfortable in the summer heat. All coats are designed to be functional and with dog's needs in mind.
