How it All Began
I'm Jill Bartlett, the pattern designer, educator, and founder of Thank Dog We Made It, a learning portal born from my many years running Scouter Wear, a boutique dog wear company inspired by my beloved dog, Scout.
Scouter Wear began in 2016 and was one of those classic business success stories. It all started with sewing raincoats and hand-knit sweaters for Scout, and soon people were asking for them. Before I knew it, Scouter Wear was launched, selling in retail stores and online worldwide. I loved designing new things for Scout, which always ended up as new products for other fur-babies.
Scout Saved My Life!
When I think about it, Scout kind of saved my life. When she came into my world, she changed everything. At that time, I had just left a successful corporate career as the co-owner of an eLearning company I had run for over 12 years. I was experiencing complete corporate burnout, and I craved more artistic expression in my life. Getting Scout opened an entire world of creative fulfillment and drew me back into a life where I could work with my hands again.
Thank Dog We Made It Launches
In 2020, I launched a membership to teach people how to sew their own dog clothes. Building on this success and my passion for everything "dog," in 2024 Scouter Wear evolved into this learning portal I call "Thank Dog We Made It." This platform provides access to resources, patterns, and courses for creating clothes, meals, treats, beds, collars, leashes, and a variety of other products.
Through the portal, I reach back to my roots in eLearning and combine my passions for working with my hands, designing new products, and sharing knowledge with others. As this continues to grow, I am excited to bring other dog product developers into the fold. This collaboration allows me to offer a wider range of products and expertise, enhancing the platform's ability to serve the diverse needs of dog lovers everywhere.

I am beginning to add new services to help other dog product developers build their businesses, fostering a supportive community where creativity and passion for dogs can thrive.
